Maine Society of Eye Physicians and Surgeons

The Maine Society of Eye Physicians and Surgeons (MSEPS), represents Maine's ophthalmologists and their patients. MSEPS, an affiliate of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, is dedicated to educating the public about eye health care concerns, advocating for ophthalmologists in the Maine State Legislature and before regulatory bodies, and aiding ophthalmologists and their staff in their continuing medical education as well as interacting with third party payers about reimbursement and coverage issues.

The Purposes of the Society are:

• To promote the continuing education and expertise of its members in the practice of ophthalmology;

• To promote the ophthalmological welfare of the people of its state;

• To act as a consultant to medical organizations, legislators, schools, and media in matters pertaining to the practice of ophthalmology, and to do all things necessary and incident thereto.

Massachusetts Society of Eye Physicians and Surgeons (MSEPS)

The Massachusetts Society of Eye Physicians and Surgeons(MSEPS) is a statewide non-profit organization whose member ophthalmologists are medical doctors specializing in the total care and treatment of the eyes and visual systems. The Society acts to aid physicians practicing ophthalmology in Massachusetts and promote quality eye care in the Commonwealth. It also acts to promote educational and scientific activities and to increase public awareness of eye safety and eye health issues. More than 81% of all ophthalmologists in Massachusetts belong to the Massachusetts Society of Eye Physicians and Surgeons; and it was awarded Model State Society status by the American Academy of Ophthalmology in 1998.

MSEPS is governed by a 44-member Executive Board which meets eight times a year with officers elected at the Society's Annual Meeting in May.

MSEPS also offers a fax-on-demand coding support hotline for its members as well as a quarterly newsletter.

Rhode Island Society of Eye Physicians and Surgeons (RISEPS)

RISEPS is a non-profit organization dedicated to educating fellow physicians in the latest medical advances in eye care, to promoting public awareness of issues surrounding proper eye health, and to advocating quality medical eye treatment before legislative and regulatory agencies.

RISEPS Information Services
RISEPS is committed to being a responsive public resource for information regarding eye disease and disorders and progressive medical eye care. As a service to health care providers, health institutions, schools, community groups, and the general public, RISEPS provides a variety of instructional services including:

Referral Directory
To assist members in providing their patients with the highest quality care, the Rhode Island Society of Eye Physician and Surgeons offers a membership directory, along with the American Academy of Ophthalmology guidelines for ophthalmologic eye examination referral. Rhode Island Eye Injury Registry
RISEPS sponsors the Rhode Island Eye Injury Registry, a member of the United States Eye Injury Registry, a national coalition of state registries established to collect epidemiologic data on eye injuries in order to develop prevention strategies and to provide statistical information to public health organizations such as the Department of Health, Department of Labor, and Centers for Disease Control. The Rhode Island Eye Injury Registry relies on the cooperation of local physicians to contribute data by completing brief injury reports on patients they have treated. Please contact RISEPS to obtain injury report forms, or for more information regarding the Eye Injury Registry.
